I'm passionate about sharing design insights and connecting with others. When many Hongkongers immigrated to Toronto in February 2023, I saw the need for a community where new designers from Hong Kong could learn North American design skills and network for job opportunities. The transition to a new country can be challenging, especially when navigating a different professional landscape. I wanted to help ease that transition and create a supportive space for designers to thrive.

In just a year, our monthly meetings—including talks, networking events, and picnic meetups—have grown our group to 120 members with HKCAUX. It's been wonderful to see designers bond, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. We've had guest speakers from various industries and workshops to help members build their skills and portfolios.

How I created HKCAUX has become a valuable resource for job seekers, with members sharing job openings and offering tips for interviews and portfolio reviews. We've also grown into a close-knit group that supports each other through the challenges of life in a new country. We've celebrated personal milestones, offered encouragement during tough times, and shared plenty of laughs.

It's incredibly rewarding to watch designers grow together, both in their careers and as individuals. The camaraderie and support in our community are heartwarming, and I'm excited to see what the future holds as we continue to learn, grow, and support each other.
